My yearly Spring fling

Every year the seasons finally change. Winter looses her grip to Spring and you can see the trees in the back yard all ready to spout leaves.

That is when I go to the shed and pull out the ‘yard tools’. I rake, shovel, trim and pull out all the things I did not get to in the fall.

Then I notice that the cross fit class is easier than I thought because I am really sore after a day working on the yard. I should just have the class come to my house for a ‘free’ class. I can hand out tools to everyone, play loud music, yell at them to go faster and presto a beautiful yard is mine.

Alas, no one wants to come for that kind of class.

The clients at work change with the seasons. It is amazing to see all the pulled muscles and sore backs that call. There is something to yard work that is different from everyone’s fitness regimes. I guess bending over and pulling/pushing on the earth is harder on the body than we think.

My advice to you all is to limit how long you work in the garden to 45 minute blocks. Take a 15 minute break every hour. What happens is after 14 minutes you have either seized up and are done for the day or are good to go another round with the yard.

Just like MMA fights stop at five rounds or you’ll be seeing me more often.

Good luck with the jungle,
